RWANDA AND BURUNDI

Our trip into Africa in January and February was very profitable.  This was a trip of observation, prayer and, getting to know the churches of Africa.  Our trip went from Nairobi, Kenya (see Africa I) onto Kigali, Rwanda and Bujumbura, Burundi.  Our meetings consisted of pastoral meetings, where leaders and pastors gathered to hear the word.   The churches were happy to hear the messages, and the worship and praise was traditional and, many times, very modern. We love the up- beat music of the Africans. Darlene, our Psalmist and daughter, had the opportunity to sing and contribute to the music of African churches.  Many churches were astonished to witness a woman playing the guitar and worshipping the Lord for women in Africa do not play guitars.

The churches we went to in Kigali and Bujumbura have joined of the Son Rise International Ministry.  We had the opportunity to see the pastors in their own setting as many of them have come to the seminars here in the US sponsored by Son Rise International, headed up by Pastor John Marie Nizigiyimana of Kigali, Rwanda.  These pastors in Rwanda and Burundi formed an organization called Sonrise/Africa. They seem so proud that they are part of what we are doing here in the US.  We have the ample opportunity to sow into their lives the message of the Kingdom, as so many of them in the past have just heard a “watered-down” gospel.  The doors opened to be on Kilgali radio, and we know that we are now a part of what the Lord is doing and going to do in Rwanda and Burundi.  There were even pastors from the Congo that traveled by bus many miles to attend the pastor’s seminar.  Yes, these pastors will come from far and wide to be a part of what the lord is doing.  And so the Word went forth, as John and Rene preached and prophecy flowed – and we know healings took place, Baptism in the Holy Spirit and all sorts of changes in their midst.  David and Lyn Walter from England, shared their testimony of David’s miraculous healing from cancer, and many responded through their prayers and were healed. When we left, they all immediately inquired about our return.

John and I went then into S. Africa to be with friends and had the opportunity there in Plettenberg, SA. to be in the Community Church and also a woman’s group where the Lord moved mightily.  Our total time gone in Africa was one month.

Below is the letter from Pastor Faustin Kalambi, who is now the director of Sonrise/Burundi.

“Praise the Lord. I thank God that by God’s grace, my family and I are fine and doing well, and wish to believe that God protected you in your long journey, and that at this time you have safely reached home.  Condolences for the death of the mother of our beloved Mama Rene, may God empower you during this hard period.  I trust she has been called to glory.  Apostle and Prophet, John and Rene, I would humbly like to thank you for being in Burundi.

Your visit was a great encouragement and blessings for us, I know to visit Burundi was not easy at this period, but because of your love for us and your commitment for the ministry that you have been called for, you did it and God blessed your stay and work.  I want to inform you that your visit here in Burundi was a success, because according to the feedback that I am receiving, John’s Apostle and Rene’s prophetic ministries has been confirmed by many pastors and church leaders who assisted in your meetings.  I really love you and was deeply blessed by your ministry too.  May God richly bless you in every detail of your lives.
