ABIDING HOPE
Hope in the season of the dark night,
Brings forth the day of God’s promised delight.
In the dark night you must press,
For it is the hour of trial and stress.
Hope is speaking of future grace,
Telling us of a better time and place.
This present season came in order to pass,
But now in present grace you must bask.
Hope in the dark and trying hour,
Is vision from the Lord’s high tower.
It presents a scene of a transformed man,
In Father’s purpose and plan.
Hope and joy are from Him as a source,
But discouragement is of the fleshly course.
By hope guard and make safe your heart,
That in hopelessness you will have no part.
Hope is Father’s sure promises for tomorrow,
To bring to fulfillment His day of no sorrow.
The promise was given to expect in the dark night,
So turn your eyes to Jesus the author of the day of delight.
Hope must unite with faith to make a bold stand,
Because faith is confidence to receive from His hand.
In hope and faith endure for evermore,
That you may surely pass through triumph’s open door.
Hope must never be relinquished in believing a lie,
For by a lie the promise in you will die.
Be not deceived by your adversary’s word,
Only your loving Father’s voice is to be heard.
Hope’s gentle plea is to rejoice in expectation,
In the God of hope who graces with salvation.
Though it seems He tarries long with the night,
Hold fast my brother and sister with all His might.
Hope is the anchor of your soul.
To you it must be more precious than all earthly gold
Hope is the pure gift of His love,
That you may be filled with comfort from above.
Knowing that no trial is meant to stay,
Take heart, be of good courage and pray.
“Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation;
continuing instant in prayer;” Romans 12:13
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”
Romans 15:13
“That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for
God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled
for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope
we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and
which entereth into that within the veil.” Hebrews 6:18-19
*The dark night in this poem speaks of trials, tribulation,
hard and difficult times.
