TWO  GOLDEN  WINGS

Behold two mighty wings: gifts of God to His children He brings;
     Golden wings to mount up far above all earthly things

Prayer and praise: by these two wings to soar;
     In tribulation pressure the Lord to worship and adore.

On these wings faithful ones fly above the storm;
     In failing to exercise them how shall you escape harm?

Many by the sins of flesh have their lovely wings broken or clipped;
     They are earth- bound and from the Lord’s ways have slipped.

Beware of all the alluring distractions which turn you another way;
     When you should be expanding your wings which is to praise and pray.

If your wings are broken, seek Him your wings to mend,

For surely He loves you, and His healing virtue He will send.

These two wings are deep expressions of our total dependency;

So go up to Him, who is our source, fleeing from all self-sufficiency.

We declare in word so plain that the Lord is our source,

But most often in daily life, in self we take another course.

O listen! the winds of adversity and judgment shall blow.

Have you taken His gifts, that to His secret place you might go?

The cry of the hour is “stretch out your wings of prayer and praise,”

To be lifted up above all fear and carnal daze.

These golden wings do not cancel out tribulation,

They with certainty bring you to a victory evaluation.

Only in faith and obedience can you, your wings spread,

To partake in the heavenlies of Christ the living bread.

You must leave the mere religious ways and concepts of man;

And the Christianity that is so shallow, fleshly, and bland.

Come! Ascend to intimacy with Him in Zion’s heights,

The way of an overcomer in the stormy and dark night.

Still here, yet in another realm, a truth only the ascending one knows,

A realm of love, where the beauty of the Lord glows.

By golden wings transcend the carnal realm of the deluded, discouraged
      and blind.

Face the winds, O faithful ones, and climb; and at the Lord’s table dine.

From this height it is an altogether different view,

Here, an altogether different life awaits you.

The winds that will destroy others here below,

You, faithful ones, will use to ascend and grow.

Those who truly fellowship in this heavenly realm of grace,

Have realized the fullness of provision in this place.

“Praise ye the Lord.  O give thanks unto the LORD: for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.  Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD?  who can shew forth his praise?”  Psalm 106:1-2.

“Rejoice evermore; Pray without ceasing: In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”  I Thess. 5:16-18.

“Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant (steadfastly) in prayer.”  Romans 12:12.

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in Him will I trust.”   Psalms 91:1-2
